Q: How do I know where I want to stay? What do you suggest?

A: Park City, Utah is located approximately 40 minutes from the Salt Lake City International Airport. You can choose from 7 areas. They are the Kimball Junction area (3 miles to The Canyons, 6 miles to Park City Mountain Resort, 8 miles to Deer Valley Resort®), The Canyons area, the Base area of Park City Mountain Resort, the Main Street Historic District of Park City, the Prospector Square area in Park City, or Snow Park in lower Deer Valley or the Silver Lake Village area in upper Deer Valley.

Kimball Junction offers reasonable rates and is very convenient for skiers looking to ski many areas. You will find fast food restaurants and the Outlet Mall there. These properties are quite close to The Canyons and offer good access to any of the front or back Wasatch ski areas.

The Canyons area is the former Wolf Mountain and Park West. As you may know, the American Skiing Company purchased Wolf Mountain. Some older, but adequate properties are located on the road leading to the base of The Canyons. They offer relatively good value and this area is a good choice if you find the prices too high in Park City or Deer Valley Resort®, but want to feel like you're staying at a ski resort. Also, at the base of The Canyons is the deluxe Grand Summit Hotel and Conference Center. This is a ski-in/out property will full amenities. In addition, the Sun Dial Lodge and Westage properties offer slopeside accommodations. There is also the upscale Miner’s Club property as well.

Base area of Park City Mountain Resort offers moderate to deluxe accommodations. These are the only true ski-in / ski-out properties in Park City and they are located in this plaza area. Slopeside lodging available; other properties are near the lower lifts (First Time, Three Kings, Eagle). Moving just across the way from the plaza are some nice properties with lower rates than their plaza neighbors.

Main Street Historic District has character. Most of the restaurants, shopping, and night life are on Main Street. This puts you about a mile from lower Deer Valley and a mile from the base of Park City Mountain Resort. Mainly hotels, one and two bedroom condos in this area. Remember that the Town Lift ski lift of the Park City Mountain Resort operates from lower Main Street.

Prospector Square is where the locals shop and patronize restaurants off Main Street. There are hotels and condos accommodations in this area. Here, you are approximately 2.5 miles from the base of Park City Mountain Resort. Free Public Transportation is very good from this location. Just a mile from Prospector Square is the Park Meadows area. There are townhouses and some homes for rent in this area. Depending upon location, a car may be required.

SnowPark is the name of the base lodge of the Deer Valley Resort® (also referred to as Lower Deer Valley). Almost all of the properties in Deer Valley are rated upper moderate to deluxe. Many of the condos have a private jacuzzi. Rates reflect the fact that you are staying in Deer Valley.

Silver Lake Village in Upper Deer Valley has wonderful accommodations, restaurants, and shopping. The properties are mostly rated upper moderate and deluxe. It is beautiful, but you are somewhat removed. You should plan on having a car. The drive down to Main Street, Park City, takes about 10-15 minutes.
